The distant rumbling grew louder and closer,

accompanied by crackling noises.

Within seconds, it struck the campsite with a thunderous roar!

Everyone woke up and scrambled to get out of their tents, shocked and in disbelief.

The campsite was a horrific sight of devastation!

There were no more tents or cars in sight — just soil covering the campsite.

That night, a total of

30 campers died at the scene.

1 passed away in the hospital.

Including 13 children.

Grandparents lost their children and grandchildren, spouses lost their partners, and parents lost their kids

It is now known as the second deadliest disaster in Malaysia after, Highland Towers tragedy
